POST #5: Non-Pig Bacon

We decided to try something new and buy turkey bacon yesterday. I just had it for the first time, so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you all… as a public service, of course.

Well… compared to pig bacon, it ain’t that great. It doesn’t taste like bacon-bacon much at all, so it fails as a replacement. Let’s face it, bacon tastes great because of all the fat. You take out the fat, then you no longer have bacon. I actually don’t understand why health food nuts keep trying to re-create unhealthy foods. Just don’t eat them! That’s the healthy alternative. You don’t need granola/bran nacho chips. Eat your own foods, dammit.

If your healthy-alternative doesn’t taste like that which is pretending to be, then what’s the point? Call it what it is and enjoy it for that. While you’re at it: stop pretending that tofu can taste like every meat dish in the known world. How is it that tofu can taste like beef for one product, turkey in another, then chicken after that? You’re all just lying to yourselves.

On its own, the turkey bacon was alright, kind of like turkey jerkey, but less dry. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be getting it again, but we can keep eating what we have.

This sucks… I’m already ready for a nap.
